Eau Pernice (she/her, b. 1986, DK) holds an MFA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art. Pernice’s work revolves around language implosions, hidden messages, and the transcendence dynamics of presence and performance. Eau Pernice´s work steers around the intersection of visual arts, music composition, and writing. Pernice has a curious approach to producing and collaborating, as seen in many of her works, most recently The Backward Singing Performances.

2023

Eau Pernice’s practice unfolds in between the abstract and the literal, the immaterial and the material. In this space, she playfully explores and deconstructs systems and structures that we commonly take for granted – technological, linguistic, religious, societal – in order to forge new connections and meanings. For Pernice, language is not only a means of communication, but also a physical material that can be manipulated such that meaning is transposed and transformed. Pernice’s work disrupts linear chronologies and brings unexpected coincidences to light.

Eau Pernice (b.1988, DK) works in the intersection of visual arts, music composition and writing. At the center of her production is a strong interest in language and performative constructions, manifested in social interactions or in relationship to objects. Her work is informed by crime fiction, religious anecdotes and contemporary gossip and thus her works exist within a multi-layered frame of references.

EAU PERNICE is a long time member of the Bad Boy Jesus City Swimmers Club and an artist interested in subversive text writing and compositions for singing voices. Her practice aligns well with the activities of the swimmers club. PERNICE collaborated with the club for a radio broadcasting show called „Sync or Swim“ in 2022 and her first release on the in-house platform for sound experiments called Bad Boy Jesus Tape Club is currently in planning.

Within the fields of visual arts, writing and musical composition the works of Eau Pernice (1989, DK) circle around understandings of time, collapse of language and suspected hidden messages. Pernice graduated with an MFA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2017.

2022

Eau Pernice (DK) is currently dedicating her work to research how the notions of presence and performance changes in a backwards temporality. Within the fields of visual arts, writing and musical composition her works circle around understandings of time, collapse of language and gray zones of autofiction. She lives and works in Copenhagen.

Gallery.

Eau Pernice is a Danish visual artist who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2017. Her work revolves around performative narratives, often connected to objects, pictures and film. For the time being, she is examining different kinds of potentials in a backwards temporality and has recently changed her artist name to a backwards pronunciation of the name Signe Boe. Eau Pernice is living and working in Copenhagen and is represented by C.C.C. Gallery.

In her work, Eau Pernice often points to the presence of multiple temporalities through physical displacements in her subject matter – either as distortions or outright backwardness. This interest in disruption and displacement reflects Pernice’s interest in systems and constructions. By interrupting movements and highlighting patterns, Pernice seeks to fragment and challenge the structures, systems and narratives we are surrounded by and immersed in.

Signe Boe’s artistic practice hovers between abstract and literal, immaterial and material. With an associative approach, she investigates the space that exists between them, shattering systems and structures that we otherwise take for granted – be they technological, linguistic, religious or societal – to create new connections and meanings. For Boe, language is not only a means of communication, but also a concrete material that can be manipulated so that meaning is shifted and changed.

Boe works in time-based media such as video, sound and performance in installations that feature sculpture, text and graphics.

Signe Boe (b. 1989) is a graduate of the School of Sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts, Schools of Visual Arts, the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig (Germany) and the Nordic Sound Art Program. Most recently, Signe Boe’s works have been exhibited at Inter Arts Center (SE), Simian (DK), Kunsthal Aarhus (DK), Contemporary Art Center – CAC (LT), Kunsthal 44Møen and Westwerk Hamburg (DE). She is represented by C.C.C. Gallery, Copenhagen.

Signe Boe, udd. v.

Gallery, Kopenhagen, vertreten.

Boe works with time-based media such as video, sound and performance, as well as with sculpture, text and graphic arts. She draws upon fields such as archaeology, linguistics, social sciences and theology, and her works often carry innumerable layers of meaning, temporalities and narratives – some more explicit than others. By linking together vastly different phenomena, the stories told in Boe’s works disrupt linear chronologies and bring unexpected coincidences to light.

Works by Signe Boe (b. 1988, Djursland) are appreciated for their acumen, absurdity and underlying humour. They are often presented in the media of extended cinema, and in her sculptural exhibitions she combine past and tradition-heavy techniques such as gravure-printing with present technologies, frequently intertwined by an experimental textual layer. Her works allow the rational and concrete to encounter the absurd and poetic.

2020

Signe Boe is primarily working in an expanded sculptural field where she is unfolding narratives through sculptural elements, surfaces and different temporalities. Boe does not have a base but is currently residing in a hotel in Copenhagen. Boe’s works were recently exhibited in Kunsthal Aarhus, Aarhus (2019), CCC Projects, Copenhagen (2019) and Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius (2019).

The works of Signe Boe take their point of departure in the very strange things that occur to her. Recently she was approached at a party by a person who wanted to offer her a job; she had the perfect profile! Now, this is not something that occurs to her often, since she holds an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, which usually does not qualify her for anything else than her main occupation: being an artist working in the field of expanded cinema where narratives are being unfolded or supported by various elements of sculptural, flat and time-based character. The position she was offered was to smuggle medical cannabis capsules between two countries. In a way it does fit her well, since she perceives her artistic work to transport information between the rational/concrete, and the absurd/poetic. Furthermore she shares her base between two countries.

Signe Boe, f. 1988, uddannet fra Det Kgl. Danske Kunstakademi i 2017.
